The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield will deliver a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

As a General Maintenance, you will play an essential role in maintaining the comfort, safety, functionality, and presentation of the hotel. Reporting to the Maintenance leadership team, you will support the day-to-day upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel systems while contributing to a seamless luxury guest experience through attention to detail, responsiveness, and pride in your work.

What You'll Do

  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and work orders throughout the property
  • Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
  • Assist with maintaining hotel systems including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, painting, furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional, and well maintained at all times
  • Support room preventative maintenance programs to ensure guestrooms consistently meet luxury brand standards
  • Assist with setup, repairs, and maintenance related to hotel operations, events, and seasonal requirements
  • Maintain organized engineering storage areas, tools, equipment, and inventory supplies
  • Identify potential maintenance concerns proactively and communicate issues to leadership in a timely manner
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, emergency protocols, and hotel operational standards
  • Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to support the overall guest experience
  • Demonstrate professionalism, positive body language, and a solution-oriented approach in all interactions
  • Support sustainability and energy conservation initiatives where possible
  • Uphold brand standards while contributing to a polished and welcoming hotel environment
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Previous maintenance experience in hotels, residential buildings, or commercial properties is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, HVAC, and general repair work
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and respond efficiently to maintenance needs
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused mindset
  • Must be reliable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts if required
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • WHMIS knowledge and workplace safety awareness are preferred
  • Experience with hotel systems and preventative maintenance programs is an asset
