The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt.  Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield will deliver a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

The Assistant Front Office Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering exceptional guest experiences while overseeing the daily operations of the Front Office department. Reporting to the Director of Rooms, you will act as the primary operational leader for Front Office functions on a day-to-day basis.

The Assistant Front Office Manager is responsible for maintaining elevated service standards, supporting team development, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring every guest interaction reflects the warmth and sophistication of a luxury hospitality experience.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Front Office department, including Front Desk, Guest Services, lobby operations, and guest arrival experiences
  • Lead by example in delivering warm, personalized, and luxury-focused guest service
  • Support and supervise Front Office colleagues to ensure consistent service standards and operational excellence
  • Assist with scheduling, payroll support, departmental organization, and labor management
  • Manage guest concerns and service recovery situations professionally and efficiently
  • Recruitment, onboarding, coaching, training, and performance development of Front Office team members
  • Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Spa, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations
  • Assist with room inventory management, VIP arrivals, group coordination, and operational planning
  • Monitor daily arrivals, departures, occupancy, and guest preferences to ensure preparedness across the operation
  • Ensure adherence to hotel policies, procedures, cash handling, and safety standards
  • Support pre-opening and operational projects, budgets, process development, and service initiatives as required
  • Act as Manager on Duty as assigned and provide operational leadership in the absence of senior management
  • Maintain a visible and engaged presence within the lobby and guest areas to support both guests and colleagues

What You'll Bring

  • A passion for luxury hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Previous leadership experience within Front Office, preferably within a luxury or lifestyle hotel environment
  • Strong operational knowledge of Front Desk, Guest Services, and hotel systems
  • Professional, polished, and confident communication skills
  • Strong leadership abilities with a collaborative and team-focused approach
  • Proven ability to manage guest concerns with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and service-focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Pre-opening experience is considered a strong asset
