Summary Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the administration and monitoring of daily accounting operations for the entire Humaniti Montreal Hotel.
At Hotel Humaniti Montreal, we are looking for people who have a human touch, and who will deliver an experience that reflects our wellness concept to our clients.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure the complete accounting cycle of the hotel, including journal entries, provisions and period-end adjustments.
  • Perform all general ledger account reconciliations, such as:
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Customer accounts (Accounts Receivable)
  • Accounts Payable
  • Taxes receivable and payable (GST, QST)
  • Salaries and social security contributions
  • Intercompany
  • Customer deposits and advances
  • Fixed assets and depreciation
  • Credit cards and payment platforms
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in collaboration with the Finance Director.
  • Produce and explain variance analyses compared to the budget, the previous year and the forecasts.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the hotel's revenues, costs and expenses.
  • Produce tax returns at the end of the month and accommodation tax returns at the end of the shift.
  • Document accounting procedures.
  • Monitor and manage the Hotel's productivity with the help of the General Manager and the Finance Director.

Financial control and compliance

  • Maintain rigorous internal controls to protect company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Ensure financial reporting complies with the highest accounting and disclosure standards.
  • Meet tight deadlines for closing and reporting.

Treasury and financial management

  • Prepare and analyze weekly cash flows.
  • Budget, audit and year-end
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare year-end files and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Provide the documents and analyses required during audits.

Analysis and operational support

  • Participate in the analysis of cost prices and profitability of the different departments.
  • Validate the integrity of accounting and operational systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the operations, accommodation, catering, sales and human resources departments.

Special Projects

  • Participate in special projects to improve financial and operational processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous optimization of systems and procedures.

Skills and Requirements

  • College or university diploma in accounting, or any other equivalent training.
  • (3 to 5) years of experience in the field of accounting.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proactivity, initiative, and autonomy.
  • Bilingual (French and English, a requirement due to an international clientele).
  • Knowledge of HOPEM, Upperbee, Workday, Lightspeed, and Brains systems is an asset.
  • Experience with Marriott chain hotels is an asset.
